The Mrs. Home Maker Action Figure.
Saving the world one reuseable shopping bag and organic rutabaga at a time.
She buys used. She makes it herself. She has handmade new vintage dresses. She gardens, line dries her laundry, has cute reusable grocery bags, cans organic produce, buys local, raises chickens, and has brilliant, politically aware, sensitive artistic children. Plus she always looks adorable... and she wears aprons in public whenever possible.
Right now I have just started on Mrs. Home Maker or Little Betty, as I like to call her. She has no shoes and her skirt is just basted and tragically unhemmed but in my dolly dreams she will be fully accessorised, armed and outfitted as the perfect future retro house honey. My ideals and aspirations all in one huggable package.
Somehow putting all this together at 1/5 actual size just seems more do-able.
(Mrs. Home Maker is made from a vintage doll face from the local thrift shop and stash busting wool and wool felt. She is dressed in a wrap dress made of Joel Dewberry fabric and has restrung vintage "pearls"... all clothes and accessories provided by Bitter Betty Industries.)

It's a back to the future kinda thing. I love her story.
Dear Mrs Home maker, I love your motto: "Saving the world one reuseable shopping bag and organic rutabaga at a time."
I hope I look as groomed and smart as you when I grow older (hey don't take it personally, I didn't say old, but if you have children who are old enough to be politically aware, you're older than me anyhow...)
Much love, Marylaure
Ooooh, I want one!
i line dry and match my pegs - i kid thee not.
The pearls are a nice touch.
She's FAB.
You make me laugh so much.....

that.is.awesome. i'm definitely both intimidated and inspired by Mrs. Home Maker, and really thinking she needs a comic book. Who is her archnemesis?
I especially love her backstory!
I don't have the pearls, but I've got the cute reusable grocery bags.
And I agree with Nancy, she is both intimidating and inspiring. And I would so read her comic book.
Word! She's awesome(lately I want to begin my comments to you with "word",I'm so gangsta!). You could do a whole series of them :
Theres "Amanda" she mixes her own CD's,she tends her lovely flower garden, she has pink hair(the tween set will love that touch.)!
...and how about "Angelina" the intellectual philosopher "She buys local, she gardens(on a quarter of an acre!),she makes her own aprons!
I would include the Lisa-Gabrielle doll, but somehow..."She does musical theatre" just doesn't seem to fit into your dollie mission statement!
Your amazing!!!!!!
I *love* this. Especially given that me and half my friends are already trying to be like her.
I absolutely love her already. Can't wait to see more!
Nancy:
Her arch nemesis might be Barbie.
Mrs. Home Maker Loves Fashion too.. However she is all about substance, sustainability and style. In that order. Usually.
Mmmm...rutabagas. Love the pearls.
Her arch enemy is Barbie... PERFECT. :D
LOVE HER. You rock, Bethany. As usual.
The only thing Mrs.Home Maker is missing is the fact that she is also a naughty deamon in the sack and makes her husband feel like a real man 5 nights a week :)
Maddie
But are the pearls fair trade?
She's everything I aspire to be except the chickens. Couldn't handle the chickens!
This could be me, if only I would make better life choices.
A comic book for green home makers? Hmmm... that has a lot of potential. Love the doll...er...I mean...action figure.
Do you take Awesomeness lessons?
I love this! Your sense of humor is fantastic...
Maybe she can do some of the housework in exchange for your styling work. ;)
Does she come alive at night and clean the house, so when you wake up she has breakfast ready and the whole world sparkles? I would like a Mrs. Home Maker like that.
She looks like a Lenci! was there a label?
I've been waiting for this action figure!! She's fabulous!
