No more stockings for us!
We are now leaving our wooden shoes out for Santa to fill with treats!
We purchased the shoes as a memento of diversion we took, on our way down to visit family, for Thanksgiving. What a good idea it was to slow down, and take a look around for once.
The shoes were plain carved wood. I just painted the insides with contrasting acrylic paint and finished the outside with matte Mod Podge to make them a little more "goodie proof".
I love them. I never made stockings for my little family in all these years. I ve cut out something like 3 sets.. but never sewn a stitch! That is probably because my mom knit some super great personalized ones for everyone. They are beautiful and detailed and can double as a sleeping bag, they are so large. This presents a certain daunting challenge when it comes to the the stuffing of same said stockings.
The shoes? Not so much. A candy cane, chocolate bar, i-tunes card, and you're close to capacity.
A cute tiny stuffed dog and a comic book should cover it.

The diversion planned and executed! A 15 hour mini vacation.
Solvang is a town that is designed to be darling. Which is fine. It simply is doing what it was designed to do. And on top of that it is jam packed with pastry. ho ho ho!

did Sinterklass put anything in your shoes on December 5th? or are you waiting for the 25th? (I was going to put out shoes on the 5th this year for my daughter since we'll be out of town on the 25th, but I forgot! oops.)
cool clogs! i agree with most stockings and their shape, hard to fit a dvd in some of those openings! i made sure the three that we bought were generous in size to allow a few different items in. funny thing is they were out on the fire place but have been put away as my OLDEST as opposed to my annoying YOUNGEST pulled one down and broke the huge metal hook type thing which was holding it up! enjoy the lead up. xx

Oh,I want wooden shoes! I want them by the door, so I can clomp out to get the paper and mail, and then my neighbors will really think I am odd. If you were going to Solvang, I think I live near you. Next time you must go to the Village Spinning and Weaving Shop- best yarn store ever. I call it the Solvang Spending and Weaving Shop.

You stopped in Solvang!!! I used to live in CA (first in So Cal and then in Paso Robles). We loved Solvang!!! Did they have fudge shops? Or are coffee shops still the rage?

When I first read vespabelle's comment I read stinkerclaus and thought that's funny name to call Santa, must have been a naughty one. hehe.
I am going to Solvang to pick up my Christmas present at The Village Spending and Weaving (giggle)...a spinning wheel. Yeah, like I need to expand my crafting endeavors. But I just can't help myself. I'll make sure I have a pastry or two too. I am not sure I want stinkerclaus at my house so I will leave the clogs behind on this trip.
