Peace, Love and Finally some New New Vinatge
Mc Calls 9658 from 1969. A year after our summer of love but close enough for me. This one is a "Time Saving Quickie"..
It says so right on the envelope. Sounds a bit risque to me.
It was easy to make. No fitting. I added a contrasting facings to amuse myself. It didn't need the zipper that was on the pattern and I put it in.. but I have worn it a few times and never used the zipper at all. I also shortened the sleeves, just for fun. I am experimenting with shapes and I like to see if I can make alterations work.
This looks like a circus tent or clown costume on the hanger.. But I think it looks pretty cute on... in an easy livin', sweetly psychedelic way.
Here's hoping all everyone's summers are full of love... Or at least a well timed folk song or two.
Nicely done. I like the length of the sleeve and the combination of stirpes with floral because the color scheme is a nice complement.
ReplyDeleteJust too darn cute!
ReplyDeleteThat was me above :) I had some trouble with blogger. Anyway, I love your photos and you did a fantastic job on that outfit!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! and so simple. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWho needs fabric foreplay, anyway? I don't.
ReplyDeleteWell, that sure is fun! Love the fabric choice, great job! xo, suzy

ReplyDeleteTime saving quickie sounds good to me!! Funny and gorgeous as usual! Happy Summer of Love 40th Anniversary! My Brother wants me to bid on a copy of the 13th Elevators for him!! Rock on!
ReplyDeleteYou are just beyond adorable in that. And the fabric? Fab!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, I love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteWay more than groovy - I love it! The contrasting detail at the sleeves totally does it for me - I love the geometric lines against the funky floral pattern.
ReplyDeleteI think you are so adorable. I was a freshman in high school in '69. I probably had a shirt like that. I had some funky clothes for sure. I'm waiting for your granny dress next!
ReplyDeleteI am TOTALLY in love with this shirt!!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the stripey cuffs. You are one groovy chick Bethany!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are definitely in the ballpark of '69, only maybe a tad small? Dinner plates. That was the size of florals in '69. Cute top. Cute model.
ReplyDeleteLove love LOVE this...I especially love the hair-do...perfection!
ReplyDeleteThat's better than I remember those garments! What a cute tunic!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really cute.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am all about contrasting facings!
I love these kinds of posts! I just love them! You are the dandiest model ever!!! Sometimes, things that look the weirdest on the hanger, look the best on.... I found that with prom dressess wayyy back in the day.... xxoxox
ReplyDeleteThat's uber cute.
ReplyDeletenice job! i almost died when i saw this though - i made this pattern, the first time around in my first sewing class. er, yes, it wasn't vintage then... ha ha ha! love it!
