Wildly, I am unable to complete anything to post.. By complete, I mean "photograph and write about anything that I am making"... And I am making stuff ( Utili-Obis, Easter baskets, Spring Bling earrings, tiny bunnies, pompom animals, Mrs. Home Maker accessories), as well as big messes. I blame my affliction du jour : Vertigo. It is minor but very distracting. I did go to the doc and it is supposed to clear up on it's own. It gets better then occasionally worse... Now, on day 11, it is quite tiresome. The computer really seems to make it more noticeable. So I have a stand in post today and hopefully something delightfully crafty tomorrow. I am planning a big shop update with Easter-y Vintage-y goodness which should happen about next week. I hope.
Until then: Buttonholes.

I can't tell you how glad tutorials like this make me that I have one of those modern wonder machines that measures my button and just does it for me!
ReplyDeleteAs for your vertigo... have you checked to see that you are not using floresent lights or those new compact bulbs.. there was something about it in the paper the other day.. about the increased bouts of unexplained vertigo in the people and it being traced back to the lighting change. They also spoke about the headaches some people get from them. .. Feel better soon!

hope you feel better soon. i hope your vertigo doesn't turn into anything like jimmy stewart experienced in the hitchcock flick.
ReplyDeleteNow I feel old - I can remember making buttonholes all of those ways - and I can even remember that ancient buttonhole attachment.
ReplyDeleteThe bound buttonhole still is a marvellous method to use in really formal wear - it also makes a nice opening for a pocket in a jacket (the pocket is inside of course - attached to the lining)
But I have to admit, I LOVE my modern machine which does it all without worrying.
I can't wait to see your easter stuff, I know that'll be the shiznit.
ReplyDeleteI'll say a special prayer to Dog tonight that your vertigo goes away. The few times I've had that it really nauseated me. No fun a'tall.
I hope you feel better today - take good care of your bitter self!
ReplyDeleteOh and I can't wait for the shop update!
dude. you make THE BEST easter baskets. ever.
ReplyDeleteand is virtigo this weird dizzy, out of head thing? cuz i'm starting to get that. can i blame it on age?
Thanks so much for these great comics tutorials !
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon.
Take care !
I recognize the machine in the stitched buttonhole section - I bought a Free Westinghouse ALB Rotary in a moment of eBay insanity and a year later got a matching buttonhole attatchment. It actually does make a really great buttonhole. Since Free Westinghouse machines were never as common as Singers, I'm going to guess that this sewing comic book was sponsored by them in some way.
