Welcome, November
Well, here we are.
November.
There is so much to do. I still need to scrub the zombie blood off the bathroom floor. There are 3 weeks until Thanksgiving, 8 until Christmas, and our family celebrates Hanukkah in there too.
But wait!
I want these weeks to be filled with fun and warmth and creativity.
I want to make sure I spend great time with my friends and family, and I want to be present, in the moment, not just rushing through the motions of togetherness. My intention of finishing all the handmade gifts by now has NOT materialized, but I do have several started and a few really close to finished. Handmade Holidays and supporting local and independent merchants is still a top priority for me. As is creative reuse, and all that jazz.
It occurs to me, That This Will Take Some Planning. So, today I start my Personal Holiday Advent.
Today is Day 1.
List and Calendar Day.
Itemize, Prioritize, and Realize:
It's time to pick the best, and chuck the rest.
Inhale. Exhale.
Go forward in that right frame of mind.
Oooh, I probably need to think about a Peronal Holiday Advent myself. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out where September went and it's already November! So many projects to finish - so little time. We're all in there with you!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely happens every year! Last year I was more on top of my crafting game than usual but this year...I don't know what happened! I'm going to use your list to help get on the ball!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I really needed the reminder. A Personal Advent Calendar, such a great idea.
ReplyDeletelove everything about this post...esp. pick the best and chuck the rest.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Some Planning. I need this, too. Thanks for the reminder. My head has been elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture you chose for November. Also, your comment "pick the best and chuck the rest" is so true!! We have to focus on the holiday and not get caught up in the commercialism.
ReplyDeleteDefinately need a personal advent calendar - thank you for reminding!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you, actually, on Halloween morning. "She's all done, now, for the holidays!" I thought. I admit that I take some comfort in knowing that you've still got some things to do (given that for all my angst I haven't materially started yet), and I'm another voice saying how much I love the personal advent idea.
ReplyDeleteMy primary goal, really, underneath it all, is to enjoy the season. Enjoy family time, enjoy the trimmings and trappings (however it is that they evolve) and not resent how little time I have left to make it 'perfect.' Bah to that -- huzzah to priorities properly set!
DId you know there is actually a website that has the plan all drawn out for you - three plans actually. And week one is Calendar and List so perhaps you do know. Anyway, checkout www.organizedchristmas.com
