Made It Myself Monday: Peace O' Candy

These are for Handmade Holidays '09: The Consumables Edition.
(I'm still on track for done by Thanksgiving!!)

The peace sign is 50 years old this year. Did you know?
It is one of my all time favorite symbols.
I had it painted on my punkrock leather jacket when I was just a churlish young grrrrl.

I wanted a cool graphic to restyle these thrifted tins for our baked goods, and fudge. The sentiment goes great with our combined winter holiday sensibilities and the shape lends itself quite nicely as well.

A little paint and a contact paper stencil and Voila. Stylish, politically savvy and eventually to be full of yummy goodness.

So what's so funny bout Peace, Love and tins of candy?

( Yes! a crafty post! FINALLY!!)

They look great. The song reference, even though I know it's not them, reminded me that Squeeze is playing up at that winery in Saratoga. Oh, yeah, and X is at the Catalyst. Dude, I'm totally going.

Nothing funny 'bout that at all! Kudos, Crafty One. I love what you've done here; it's firing up my own Christmas crafting cylinders (which have been cold cold cold....)

We love Maurice Sendak's Wild Rumpus...but not as much as your candy tins! Great work and SO neat! t.x

What kind of paint did you use? Spray paint? It looks great- very smooth!

I love the peace symbol too.

This is such a good idea...before reading it I thought you were showing us filled tins and was like, ok, how'd she come up with cookies that will last until winter? I figured a boozy recipe was ahead, but was really surprised to see you made the tins. You have the best ideas.
