housewiffery in the key of brown

There was a trip to the thrift store:

There was the application of the fantastic raw materials from the thrift store..
( cork lined drawers? how luxurious!)

Then there was the cleaning up of two messes. I used the old sales binder my husband needed cleared out ( and had been lying on the ground for 3 days.. waiting..) to house all the loose recipies I had unearthed in one of the drawers that are now lined with cork. Serendipitous? No?

Because the sun is out, there were finally photos taken of my mini mushroom farm,

and its crop.

Brown made me happy this week.

oooh, excellent! I keep all of my loose recipes in sleeves in a binder, too. I love it. Finally set that up this winter after years of shuffling through piles and drawers.

You grow mushrooms! I've always wanted to try that, is it easy?

The flower fabric in the first photo is awesome. Cork lined drawers is a great idea. We have that plastic bumpy stuff and *someone* always bunches it up when he puts the spatulas and pans back. The cork would work a lot better.

I am seriously missing living in Portland right now. Those were the days of fantastic thrift store finds like your own today. I love that little elfish dude.

I joined your flickr new vintage wardrobe group & posted measurements in case you want to borrow any of the patterns.

Thanks for the hospital sympathy too, it sounds like you had a pretty scary experience yourself. I stayed at OHSU Hospital in Portland for a stint when I was 17 and got hit on my bicycle. It was such a lovely clean and quiet place. Definitely not in Da Hood!

Any post that begins with "There was a trip to the thrift store" sucker punches me totally in ,and then to end with pics of Shrooms,I am presently living in "the age of Aquarius" after all!

Normally I am not a huge brown fan, except cocoa brown clothing, but I found myself really enjoying your brown stash.

Binders rock! I have my collected recipes in a binder too, which is now too small. But I use it all the time.

I am going to have to figure out this whole flickr thing so I don't miss our. I just posted a 40's blouse I made from a pattern I'm sending out to you today. I want to post it to the flickr group you started. Perhaps I will have to sit down tomorrow to figure it all out.
