It is Tree Huntin' time.
This is the first year we teamed up with my sister and her family to hit the tree farm.
This farm is our family's traditional tree spot.
There is a 3 mile drive in on a one lane road.. navigated by SUV's who only visit once a year.( eek.) After you pull into the drive you will be greeted by kid standing next to a bon fire, who will hand you an enormous saw..( Demonstrated by my brother in law.. ahem.)
Next you drive to the grove of your choosing and look at all the trees. Big and Little:
After you have selected and severed your yule tide treasure, many families bring sugar laden hot cocoa and candy refreshment, to celebrate the kill.
Then home to watch the PeeWee's Playhouse Christmas Special on VHS...untangle those lights.. get out that electric train.. and have soup... and more cocoa.
Because this is the gossamer sugar coated beauty that childhood memories are made of.
