What Happened to Wednesday: The Cone

I know... a double post! Which I usually wouldn't do, but I am in the middle of a pet crisis, so naturally I am taking pictures and well, I feel really bad for the dog. (Oh, the suffering baby, he suffers! from allergies... And from a paw that allergies made him lick until it got really nasty.)

But the pictures came out great so I have to share.

the offending foot

I'm Sorry, Cooper. The Cone Of Shame just looks good on you. Because you're handsome.

And Pathetic.

And I had to get up 5 times last night to check on you, because you can't wear it and lie down, and I had to make sure you hadn't chewed off the bandage,
so I'm exploiting you.

But you'll get a cookie in a minute. 'Cause I feel guilty about it.

Poor, sad, baby.

Tuesday? Really?

Hmm... already Tuesday, already September. 8 day since my last post.
I'm in deep denial.
So here you go... some images of cute animals and purchased loot to distract you from the fact that my promise to start blogging regularly again has not yet been fulfilled:

Gratuitous Thrift:

more stuff I don't need and could not live without.

As for serious news?
My son is now the same height as myself, I am working on a cool top secret project with my sister, I am sewing a new vintage garment, in swanky, saucy animal print-ish velveteen, the pup can roll over on command (and often actually does), the fridge has been clean and organized for 4 straight weeks, I gained back 3 of the pounds I lost since I started walking almost every day, and J actually likes at least one of his teachers this year.

Let's all have a hearty cheer for Mrs. Anderson, Miracle Woman!

All right, I really will start posting regularly again. I'm serious. This time I really mean it.

Blog? What Blog? (Or The First New Excuse)

Okay.. This is actually more like a practice post. A post to say I am going to post and keep on posting. You know... like the old days. I read your blog and you read mine.
I do miss you blogland. I keep meaning to come by. I really have so much to talk about. I just get distracted.

A couple weeks ago, when I first dissappeared, I ran away from home to the Northern California Coast (my mom and dad's house...Hi Guys!), and I took my neighbors.

Pretty, Huh?

That was 5 fun filled days.
Hanging out at the river:

Jacob was amazing with the littler kids. It washed out months of built up pre-teen sass.

Cooper was socialized.. People and dog style.

And we all go our summertime relax going.

And right on my way out of town I got a lovely package from Jennifer over at Infinity More Monkeys with an awesome road trip mix cd and all these:

Thanks Jennifer!! Perfect timing!

Stay tuned for what happened to the other 12 days..
They actually contained some photographable CRAFT.
Seriously.
Don't look at me like that.

I mean it.

Made It Myself Monday: Market Umbrella Bean Tent

I have done a fair amount of gardening this year.. which is very evident in the scant amount of clothing I have made. (Another shining example of You can have it All... but not all at once.)

I had a bit of an epiphany when I was putting in the garden and cleaning out the storage area at the same time. We had a canvas market umbrella that had a fine frame but the cover was shot. I kept thinking I would sew a new cover but that is not the kind of item that makes it to the top of my sewing priority list too easily...
So, my husband said, "Should we toss this? We have too much junk!"

"I'm Going to Use That!"

"When?"
"I will use it today."

And I did~!

Bamboo poles are the uprights tied with twine. I planted climbing peas in march and two kinds of beans shortly there after. Those blossoms are from the Scarlett Runners. When the peas were done, the beans swiftly took over and I couldn't be more pleased.

And especially for Susan:
